Must work faster...........

Ello ( Cockney Voice).

Well today is a very gloomy grey bank holiday. Admittedly my kind of weather, in the great words of Shirley Manson (Garbage)  "I'm only happy when it rains."

I have lots of things going on in my studio dolls, eyeballs, a plague doctor, ghosts and of course clowns. So much that I have neglected the internet side of things. Now I am staring at the computer then looking at my unfinished objects willing myself to work faster. The truth is I am very slow when it comes to computer side of things, hence why something I think will take a morning will normally take the whole day.  I have managed to put up three items on Etsy, that really should have been put up last week.  I shall blame it on the Plague Doctor I am making……..

You can find this fiendishly collection at their regular haunt Etsy...

Happy Clown Day!

Happy Clown day! Today is Saint Genesius day who is the Patron Saint of clowns, performers, and torture victims….. Ahem…  yes really. So in celebration of this special day the circus has put together a group photo of the madness of clowns that live in my studio.

Feeling a bit left out our cats decided to join in the madness.

Banzai the Hypnotic Cat

Cherry The Greatest Cat to Zoom everywhere .

Mr Tabby Stripes Pug the Circus leader

Alice, who prefers to sit quietly reading Wuthering heights.
So wherever you are in the world, hope that you are having a wonderful insane and delightful day. Thank you to whoever looks at my Blog, I am always appreciative and hope to meet many more mad clowns in my travels….

Clowns and Crows

Ahoy! In a pirate voice…

I am wondering where the week has gone or the summer for that matter. Can I have the week back please?

This week’s theme on Etsy has been clowns and crows. Two of my favourite things. I found that there is a patron Saint of clowns called Saint Genesius and the day of celebration is on August 25. I may have to celebrate on that day and link this in with Etsy.

I would like to introduce you to a new character called Mr Giggles. He dislikes custard pies but is rather fond of BBC Radio Four.

The Uncanny Brothers are back, but just their heads. Got to continue with the macabre theme. These two pieces could be used for Halloween décor or dare I say Christmas decorations. Bit early I know, but can you imagine a Christmas tree covered in clown heads?  It could be a talking point when one has guests over.

I awoke one morning to the sound of several crows having a domestic on a roof top. I never knew this, but crows have their own dialect depending on where they live. What immediately sprang to mind was cockney crows and crows with a Northern accent. Do they get “You’re not from a round here” from other crows. I reckon they do.

Here is Cuthbert in the form of a jester Stick and wall plaque.

I am working on new images for the crows as the pictures need to be clearer.  Unfortunately the weather has turned rather dull and has a utilitarian grey sky in which my camera cannot cope and continues  to refuse to play nice.

I shall now go back to making more clowns, eyeballs, and undead girls………..

You can find these items on Etsy here

Bedlam The Bunny .

Hello,

I have managed to catch the plague or rather I have a cold so work has slowed down a bit. The plague doctor or Nurgle has not knocked on my door yet…..

I have gone a bit Bunny Bonkers on Etsy today and three items have been put up. Two of the items I have put up are based on one of my first tentative steps into the wonderful world of 3D. The item in question is a character called Bedlam the Bunny who was created about four years ago from a project based on asylums. This character is very special to me as it was my first real attempt at creating art in 3D and where I finally started to develop my own style and have the confidence to go with it. I have to point out that I am still not totally confidant, but then who is?  I read lots of books about the subject, visited ruined asylums and basically lived and breathed the project. In terms of creativity this was one of my most enjoyable projects.

You may recognise Bedlam from the profile picture.

Bedlam was first made using a Jack in a Box, Sindy dolls head and some other toy bits.

I have a thing about Jack in Boxes, I think it was because I had one as a child and it frighten the life out of me. There is the moment as you turn the handle that at any moment this clown is going to jump put towards you. As any child in the 70s may remember the Fisher Price Jack in Boxes use to make a wailing sound that sounded like souls trapped within the box.  Toys can be a bit twisted?

In a later project I gave him wheels, he can be moved by remote control and his eyes light up.

From this project I then continued on the path of 3D and finally found what I really wanted to do.  I had a break from asylums for a while but then came back to the subject as I felt it there are so many possibilities.  The circuses aesthetics is from my theatre design background, and I see life as a great big insane circus, so it makes sense to me.

So I would like to introduce the Bunny madness that has made its appearance on Etsy. Bedlam The Bunny..

 Also a newbie Undead Bunny....
